Adding and Editing Text in Editor

 

 

Text is one of the core components in digital design, regardless of the project or intended audience. From titles to headers, body copy, or captions, properly formatting and utilizing text will drastically improve the usability and readability of your design.

Editor allows you to use textboxes to make adding and editing text simple and highly flexible. With textboxes, you can change the size, shape, and position of any body of text.

 

Adding a textbox

Creating a new textbox:

1. Select the text tool from the Toolbar
2. Click, hold, and drag your cursor on the canvas to draw a textbox
3. Input the text in the textbox

Repositioning a textbox:

1. Click, hold, and drag a textbox to reposition it on the canvas
2. Related, hold Shift and click on multiple textboxes to select and reposition them simultaneously without altering spacing from each other (Or group them together)

Reshaping a textbox:

1. Click a textbox to select it
2. Click, hold, and drag any of the anchor points on the textbox to adjust its width and height
3. Alternatively, hold Shift while dragging an anchor point to scale the size of the textbox without changing its shape
4. Or, hold cmd/ctrl while dragging an anchor point to scale only its width or height

 

Editing the content inside a textbox

Adding or editing text in an existing textbox:

1. Click on the desired textbox to select it
2. Double-click on it again to enter editing mode
3. Add or edit text as needed

Adjusting the formatting of text in a textbox:

1. Click on the desired textbox to select it and open the Design Panel
2. Use the Text features in the Design Panel to adjust the Typography formatting of all the text in the textbox, which includes:
   1. Font
   2. Weight
   3. Color
   4. Size
   5. Alignment
3. Or, select the “Advanced” toggle to access the more robust formatting options, including:
   1. States
   2. Rotation
   3. Opacity
   4. Font
   5. Weight
   6. Color
   7. Size
   8. Lettering
   9. Line Height
   10. Alignment
   11. Text Case
   12. Columns
   13. Gutter
   14. Padding

Adjusting the formatting of specific words or lines in a textbox:

1. Double-click on the selected textbox
2. Highlight the desired text
3. Adjust the values in the Design Panel

It’s important to note that though you can adjust the weight and color of specific words, changing font size, lettering, or line height will apply to the entire textbox.
