Coming soon… the Ceros Film Festival (CFF) ⭐ 🎥 !
Studios from all around the world are coming together to celebrate and showcase their popular movies–from the classics to the brand spankin’ new! This year, the festival is pushing for digital posters to display along the red carpet and you’ve been hired to design them! All of the Studios want their posters to follow the popular trends, keeping up with the times (even for the classic films), and word on the street that the trend for movie posters in 2024 is "Maximalism."
This month, your Creative Challenge is to create a Maximalist Digital Movie Poster in the Ceros Studio using this Movie Poster template.
As per tradition, there are certain guidelines you must follow with your submission:
You must use the provided template (it’s a blank canvas, but will be the proper 2:3 ratio of a typical movie poster)
You are not allowed to resize the canvas or add additional pages
You can reference a real movie or make one up!
You must use typefaces to express the theme of the movie
You can still use any asset type, such as shapes, images, videos, etc., to add variety to your visual, but text/typeface is the main focus of this assignment!
Feel free to include any animations, interactions, states, or transitions you'd like to add for a little more razzle dazzle!
The goal of this Creative Challenge is to create an over-the-top digital poster to hype up the movie you chose by using typefaces (and other visuals) in a maximalist design.
Not sure what maximalism looks like? Check out this moodboard for some inspiration!
Still stuck? Well, luckily movie posters have been around for a while. Check out these poster tropes for some guidance! (even though they’re ironic and hilarious… if it’s not broken, don’t fix it right?)
You'll have until May 2nd to complete this challenge, when we hold our next Creative Challenge webinar, during which we'll celebrate everyone's submissions and hand out the Movie Buff Badge to those who complete the challenge. Good luck, have fun, and… ready, set… action! 🎬
