Using the Contextual Toolbar in Flex

The Contextual Toolbar is a UI element in Flex that dynamically includes quick options based on your selected content. The Contextual Toolbar is an excellent resource for increasing the content creation efficiency in Flex. Contextual Toolbar options include:

  • Group selection

  • Ungroup selection

  • Duplicate selection

  • Move selection up (in the Layers Panel)

  • Move selection down (in the Layers Panel)

  • Link selection (adding a hyperlink to text)

  • Delete selection

  • Add interaction

  • Add animation

To open the Contextual Toolbar:

  1. Select the target asset(s) or group(s) on the canvas

  2. Navigate to the top of the selection

The Contextual Toolbar will always be located above the top of the selected asset(s) or group(s) outside the bounding box. Closing the Contextual Toolbar will also deselect the asset(s) or group(s). When selecting multiple assets or groups, the actions on the Contextual Toolbar will apply to all.
