Locking Components

Owners and Creators are given more control with their designs, making sure your vision is upheld, by being able to lock components and other elements within the Studio so they are uneditable for users in Editor. This is mainly used when you want to preserve things like branding and prevent any other unintended changes within the experience while still giving editors the ability to update whatever they need, making collaboration smoother, safer, and more efficient!

Step 1: Manage Editor settings in Studio

  1. Clicking the Settings option at the top right of the studio to open the Settings menu

  2. Navigate to the “Editor” option within the list

  3. Choose between any of the Editor Settings:

    1. All content is editable

      1. Allows the experience to be opened and all its contents can be modified within Editor

    2. Some content is editable

      1. Allows the experience to be opened and specified contents can be modified within Editor

    3. No content is editable

      1. Experience can still be opened, but not modified within Editor

  4. Click “OK” to confirm your selection

Step 2: Locking Studio Components in Studio

  1. Select a component or element in the Studio

  2. Scroll down the Design panel on the right and use the checkbox under Editor Settings

    1. Checked = Editable in Editor

    2. Uncheck = Not editable in Editor

Once you start toggling if an element is or is not editable, your Editor Setting will automatically be converted to “Some content is editable”.

It’s important to also mention that the Editor Settings you enable within the Settings menu will override your editable selections on the canvas. Toggling to “All content” will make all elements editable, and “No content” will remove the “Editable” option altogether.
