Statuses & Sign off

Statuses and Sign off function as feedback communication signposts within MarkUp. They deliver precise insight into a project's progression, enhancing team members' awareness of the project's current state while curtailing the barrage of “Is it done yet?” inquiries.

Utilizing Statuses and Sign off in MarkUp will help guide, inform, and facilitate an effortless transition from initial feedback to final approval, fostering a more efficient workflow!

Adjusting a MarkUp Status

A MarkUp’s Status can be changed from within MarkUp’s admin dashboard and within a MarkUp itself.

Please note: only Admins and MarkUp owners can adjust a MarkUp's status. Other users can only see the status and be notified of status changes via email, Slack, or MS Teams.

From the Dashboard

  1. Find the MarkUp you wish to change the status of in your dashboard

  2. Within the MarkUp’s tile, click the Status dropdown menu and select the appropriate status for the MarkUp

In a MarkUp

  1. While viewing a MarkUp, find the Status dropdown menu in the upper left side of the MarkUp

  2. Click the dropdown menu and select the appropriate status for the MarkUp

Status Indicators

Below are the different Statuses you can assign to a MarkUp along with a brief description of what each status will communicate to users:

  • No Status

    • The default status when a MarkUp is created, as setting a MarkUp’s status isn’t mandatory. Please note that once the status of a MarkUp has changed, it cannot be changed back to No Status.

  • Open for review

    • The project is currently at a stage where it's ready to receive feedback, comments, and suggestions from the team or clients.

  • Editing content

    • Based on feedback received, the project is now in the process of being edited or updated. No new reviews should be added as changes are being implemented.

  • On hold

    • The review process or content edits are temporarily paused, possibly due to needing additional information, resources, or decisions before proceeding.

  • Completed

    • The project has passed all stages of review and editing, all feedback has been addressed, and it is now finalized and approved for use or publication.

Please note: When setting your MarkUp’s status to either “Editing content” or “On hold”, you may also want to utilize MarkUp’s Pause new comments feature so you and your team can maintain focus while actioning the project’s current feedback. Click here to learn more about this feature.

Submitting a Sign Off

Signing off on a MarkUp communicates to the other collaborators that you’ve completed your part of the review. Sign offs can be completed from within a MarkUp:

  1. Click the blue arrow button next to where it says “let the team know you finished reviewing”

  2. Add a message in the provided field (optional), then click Finish to complete the sign off

Once a sign off has been submitted, your team can see how many sign offs the MarkUp has received within the MarkUp’s tile in the admin dashboard next to the comment count:
