If you're using Webflow to design and develop websites, you probably already know how important feedback is. But collecting, organizing, and implementing feedback can be a challenge, especially when it comes from multiple stakeholders.
With MarkUp.io, you can collect feedback directly on your Webflow sites, so everyone can see exactly what reviewers want and get a seamless collaboration experience.
To help you get the most out of MarkUp.io and Webflow, we've compiled some of our favorite top tips:
How to create a MarkUp using a Webflow link.
You have two options for marking up a Webflow website:
Publish the site on a free domain or staging website:
If you change the URL, it will remove the MarkUp.
This is the best option if you need to complete the review process before the website goes live.
Live or production website:Ā
You will need to publish the website to access this link.
This is the best option if a site has already gone live and needs updates or changes.
Please note: If you are uploading a Webflow site that hasnāt been published to the above two options, you will not be able to put a pin on the website canvas.
You can also use our Google Chrome extension, which will allow you to:
Create a new MarkUp directly from the staging URL or the live website in your browser.
Get quicker and higher-resolution screenshots in your comments.
Bypass parts of your password-protected websites easier.
š”Youāll only ever need one link per Webflow project. Whenever you publish a change in Webflow, your MarkUp will update automatically! Just ask your stakeholders/clients to use the same link when providing updates, or mention them in a comment to highlight that their requested changes are now live!š”
How to run a review in MarkUp.io.
Youāre now ready to start collecting feedback on your Webflow site. You can use MarkUp.io for your reviews in any way that works best for you, but hereās an example we stole from one of our customers (just incase you need some inspiration!).
Share your MarkUp link internally first - Feel free to leave notes in the form of comments (if needed). Your reviewers will be able to see these when they open your MarkUp for the first time.
Share your link with all your reviewers -
Sharing the link shown after clicking āShareā in your MarkUp.
Send them the link directly by entering their email address (shown after pressing āShareā in your MarkUp).
Copying and pasting the browser URL.
Engage with your reviewers - Replying to the comments as soon as possible will allow the feedback cycle to be closed as soon as possible. You can use notification settings to ensure you are up to date with whatās happening in the MarkUp.
Close the review process -Make sure that everything is finalized and prevent further comments by toggling the āShare linkā to off (via Share button). Or just let your reviewers know time is up! (This is a Pro and Enterprise plan feature).
Ensure the feedback is actioned -Share your MarkUp with your team to action the changes! Use the āResolvedā button to track changes that have been made.
How to set up your Workspace for success.
Use a Folder or Workspace structure - This is helpful if you are on our Pro or Enterprise plans and have a lot of teams or stakeholders involved in the review process. You can move the MarkUp through the different Folders or Workspaces depending on who needs to access and review the site.
Set up your team - Making sure the right people have the right roles within the Workspace ensures there is no confusion and and gives you control over access permissions. We recommend having any external stakeholders or clients as āGuestsā and any team members or people you regularly work with having āMemberā access.
Check out our Roles & Permissions article here for more information on the different role types.
If you are inviting 'Guests' to collaborate, feel free to send them our āGuest Usersā article to give them a quick rundown of how it all works!
Keep your reviews simple and effective.
Tag people in specific comments - If your comment needs to be directed to a specific person, tag them in the comment! They can then jump in and review everything, or filter by āMentionsā to focus their attention on particular feedback.
Turn your share link on and off (Pro & Enterprise) - You can easily turn the share link on and off mid-review to limit access to Guest reviewers while you action their feedback!
Keep notifications on for any updates - Following on from the above tip, make sure you have notifications enabled for any future updates. If email notifications arenāt your thing, check out our integrations tab to get notified in Slack, Teams, and moreā¦
Streamline your workflow - Check out our Zapier integration which allows you to connect MarkUp.io to over 5,000 tools!
Filter feedback by the webpage you are on -Ā We know it can be hard to keep up with a lot of feedback at once. Focus on the specific page you are on within your Website by filtering comments to 'On this page'.
And a few final tips for using Webflow in MarkUp.io:
Use one link per project - This will ensure that your updates within Webflow will be updated in the MarkUp. No need to keep creating new projects and having comments split across multiple files.
Donāt change the staging link URL - Avoid changing until you are ready to publish the live website as it will be different from the original link used to create the MarkUp!
Create a sitemap link when working with āOrphanā site pages - To keep everything in one MarkUp link, you can try one of the following options:
Create the MarkUp with the link to the sitemap page.Ā
Add a temporary link within the website you are building that links to the sitemap (which you can remove once the site is ready to go live).
